Retainer Policy

We do not accept any insurance and, for the most part, do not charge on a fee-for-service basis. Instead, we operate on a simple retainer. Think of Solace Health as you would a health club membership. There is a flat fee to be a patient, but in return we provide you with health care services that go above and beyond what would normally be covered under most insurance plans, including phone and email visits, patient portal access, extended visits, and yearly physicals. The retainer cost varies upon your circumstances. If you are 26 years old or older, our standard retainer is $100 a month or $300 a quarter. If you are younger than 26, we offer a discounted retainer of $67 a month or $200 a quarter. If you are being prescribed Suboxone (buprenorphine) for opiate replacement therapy, our retainer is $150 a month or $450 a quarter regardless of age. The retainer cost is not covered by any insurance plan and is an out-of-pocket expense. We accept payments via cash, check, electronic bank transfer and accept all major credit/debit cards. Retainer payments are generally collected quarterly (every three months) in advance of service. We are willing to adjust this policy to allow for billing on a monthly cycle, as long you agree to automated deductions from a credit card or bank account. If you need to leave the practice at any point, retainer paid for unused months is fully refundable.

OMG (Osteopathic Manipulation)

All OMT visits are done on a fee-for-service basis, the price of which depends on the extent of your treatment. The cost range for initial visits is $108-165, usually $137. Follow up visits range from $77-134, usually $106.

Insurance Billing

The retainer cost is not covered by insurance and is an out of pocket expense. Medications, diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and specialist referrals ordered by Dr. Shilland may be billed directly to your insurance plan as normal and are subject to coverage, cost sharing and deductibles as laid out in your plan agreement. Patients with private insurance (not Medicare or Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan) may be reimbursed by their insurance company for covered services provided by Solace Health if their plan includes out-of-network benefits. We can provide you with a superbill for any covered services provided at our clinic every 6 months that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Patients covered under Medicare plans are responsible for the 20% co-pay amounts required by the Federal government.

Contacting Us

Our office is happy to communicate with you via phone, text or email. We have two different phone numbers: The front desk can be reached at (503) 231-3371. You can call this number during business hours to reach the receptionist or after hours to leave a routine message or refill request. If you call while we’re open and we are on the other line or helping a patient we may not be able to take your call right away. Please leave a voicemail and we will get back to you promptly.

Our out of office/texting number is (503) 479-8383. Texting to this number during the day will reach the receptionist; calls and texts made evenings and weekends will reach the doctor. You are more than welcome to text routine questions to the front desk during the day (for daytime calls use the office phone number). Please restrict your after hours contact to the doctor for emergent matters only. Also please note, when initiating a text conversation it’s helpful to give your name so we know who you are.

Our email address is info@solacehealthpdx.com We are happy to answer questions, schedule appointments, or take refill requests over email. Please note that both Dr Shilland and his assistant may read messages sent to this account.

Hours

Solace Health is normally open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. On the occasional days where the office is closed for holidays or special circumstances, the details of our absence will be recorded on the outgoing voicemail message. At such times you can get ahold of his assistant during normal business hours by calling the out-of-office number (503) 479-8383. She can pass along messages and refill requests to the doctor. During our normal days, there may be hours where the office is briefly closed for meetings, errands or lunch breaks. You are always welcome to swing by to pick up prescriptions or other matters, but if you don’t also have a scheduled consultation it’s best to check in by phone before coming by so we can be here to greet you.

Refill Requests

Refill requests can be made either directly to our office or through the pharmacy. If you’re requesting refills through the office via phone or text please be sure to clearly state your name and the name of the medication you need. If you’re requesting refills through your pharmacy please be sure the pharmacy has our correct contact information. You will receive a call to confirm once your refill has been completed by our office, but keep in mind the pharmacy also needs time to process it on their end. For this reason we ask that you allow 24 hours for all requests.

Kids in the Office

We are commonly asked if children are welcome in the office during your visit.  Of course!
